Hey! This is José

I left Madrid after Goethe appeared in my toaster and shouted “Geh nach Norden!” between slices of burnt bread (not really, love was the culprit...). Now I live in Hamburg, where I say Moin to puddles, eat disturbing amounts of Franzbrötchen, and yell poetry at the Speicherstadt until the bricks clap back. I once tried to translate my dreams into German but got stuck between “doch” and “genau.” The rain respects me now, but only slightly.

Why I do this

I photograph things (and people) because shouting at them doesn’t work—and because light has better stories than most people.

How I work

I chase light, bribe shadows (and people) with compliments, and occasionally whisper to lenses until they cooperate. Chaos is welcome, perfection is suspicious, and good coffee is non-negotiable.

Fun Facts about me

I speak three languages and argue with myself in all of them, and I once tried to bribe the rain with tortilla. It worked for three minutes.

Can't wait to meet you
